Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome Medicals (HAVS)

Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4 medicals available

Hand arm vibration symptoms are as a result of the use of vibration tools and being exposed to vibration at home and at work. they can cause significant problems with health including issues with nerves, circulation and blood vessels and joints.

Employers have a legal requirement to ensure all employees exposed to vibration, hand held and body vibration, are assessed annually via appropriate assessments with a fully qualified  occupational health nurse or occupational health physician.

At Occupational Health Bristol our physicians are fully qualified to identify HAVS and provide appropriate feedback to help advise employers accordingly and reduce risk to employees.

Tier 1 HAVS assessment – initial questionnaire/pre-employment questionnaire for employees who will soon commence working with vibration tools

Tier 2 HAVS assessment – annual questionnaire for employees who have ongoing vibration exposure.

Tier 3 HAVS assessment – assessments required for employees who declare symptoms of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), this can be nurse or physician lead.

Tier 4 HAVS assessment – this can only be performed by a HAVS qualified physician/doctor and includes a full history of exposure and symptoms followed by a full formal assessment and diagnosis if appropriate. This also includes recommendations on whether or not these cases are RIDDOR reportable and advise on further vibration exposure and management of individual cases.
